 Master-at-Arms Scout Badge Khaki Woven War Time

A scout could not gain any more than 6 proficiency badges before gaining a First Class scout badge.

To earn this badge a scout must do the following *

Be able to do 10 of the following, at least five of which, selected by the Examiner, must be demonstrated :

Carry out the following tests in any language other than his own

(1) Demonstrate his proficiency in two of the following:- singlestick, quarterstaf, fencing, boxing, Ju Jiitsu, wrestling,  gymnastics, tumbling.

(2) In all the “ contest ” events he must have  taken part in an encounter under proper ring conditions, and be able to name and demonstrate the correct methods of attack and defence. In the gymnastic item he must carry out 12 exercises of his own choice, using the appropriate apparatus.  In the tumbling item he must perform the following to a good standard:

(a) Dive and forward roll over a staff at waist height.  (b) Dive and forward roll over five boys crouched on hands and knees.  (c) Shoulder mount on selected partner, to remain balanced for 30 seconds with arms extended.  (d) Cartwheel. (e) Backroll to feet.  (F) Perform with selected partner any three double stunts, e.g. Double Roll, Two High Fail, etc. 

(3) Give evidence that he has been in training for the selected item, for a period of not less than three months.
