Interpreter Senior Scouts Badge 1958 to 1964
To earn this badge a scout must do the
following *
Pass the following tests in any language other than his own :
(a) Carry on a simple conversation lasting about 10 minutes and
introducing some of the basic Scout vocabulary, e.g., the words for Scout,
Patrol, camp, tent.
(b) Write a letter of about 300 words dealing with a simple
Scout topic chosen by the Examiner.
(C) Read aloud intelligibly and give an approximate translation (without
the help of a dictionary) of a paragraph of average difficulty from a book,
newspaper or periodical.
Note - An additional badge is worn by an Interpreter above the
right breast pocket or on a similar position on jersey, showing the language or
languages spoken.
