Gardner Scout Badge Blue Woven and Bound 1934 to 1967
The Gardner was worn on the Right arm
in between the shoulder and elbow.
A scout could not gain any more than
6 proficiency badges before gaining a First Class scout badge.
To earn this badge a scout must do
the following *
(1)
Cultivate a piece of ground not less than 144 square feet, plan, plant and grow
successfully six kinds and flowers from seed
e of vegetables s or cuttings.
(2) Know
the names of 12 plants pointed out in an ordinary garden.
(3)
Discuss with the Examiner the different treatment for bulbs, annuals, biennials
and perennials, and the planning of
colour in a bed or border.
(4) Know
how to make a compost heap and understand the principles of rnanuring, both
natural and artificial.
