Camper Scout Badge  Felt with words 1928 to 1929

The Camper Badge has the image of a wigwam. 

The Camper Badge was worn on the Right arm in between the shoulder and elbow.

To earn the Camper Badge*

1. "Must Know what are the normal requirements in regard to

a] Personal kit for a week's camp.

B] Personal kit for a week-end hike or cruise.

C] The extra gear and the rations required f or a week-end Patrol Camp or cruise (7 boys].

2. ‘Knew the principal points to look for in the selection of a Patrol or Troop Camp site and describe with rough plan how he would lay out

A Patrol Camp with reference to tent, kitchen, sanitation, etc.

Or Know how to select an anchorage, mooring, or berth for-

A] A rowing or sailing vessel. –

b) A sea-going vessel. .

3. Demonstrate that he :

(a) Understands the use and care of an axe.

(b) Understands the uses of and can tie the following knots- in addition to the Tenderfoot knots :—Slip Reef, Double Sheet Bend, Round Turn and two Half Hitches, Timber Hitch, Middleman‘s, Figure of Eight, Running Bowline, Bowline on Bight.

(c) Understands the use oi and can make square lashings.

4. Demonstrate how to pitch, strike, pack, and execute petty repairs to a Patrol Tent.

5. Must have cooked for a Patrol in camp for three complete days, not necessarily consecutive. _

6. Have attended at least two Annual Summer Camps, each of at least a week’s duration, under canvas or on board ship or boat, and have camped out alone, or with one other Scout, for at least three nights, not necessarily consecutive.
