BP Fireman Scout Badge Blue Printed War Time
A scout could not gain any more than 6 proficiency badges before gaining a First Class scout badge.
To earn this badge a scout must do the following *
(1) Know and explain the possibilities of danger in: (a) oil lamps, spirit stoves, ?annelette, Christmas decorations, cotton wool, celluloid (b) the focusing of the sun’s rays; (c) faulty electrical insulation.
(2) Explain what he would do, and why, on the outbreak of ?re. Know the methods of calling the Fire Brigade and the position of the nearest alarms to home and HQ. Demonstrate what he would do pending the arrival of the Brigade.
(3) Demonstrate how to trace an escape of gas; and how to use a stirrup pump. Take part in a bucket chain; and know how to use two common forms of ?re extinguisher.
(4) Demonstrate how to deal with the following types of ?re at the discretion of the Examiner : Cloths, petrol, chimney, motor car, curtain, electric, heath, grass and rick ?res.
(5) Demonstrate the following:—-use of scrum to keep back crowds, improvising ropes, chair knot and crawling through smoke.
