This proficiency badge was worn on the right arm, starting from
the cuff upwards in order of achievement.
To earn
the Plumber badge*
Must make a blown joint in compo or lead pipe, Use a soldering iron to repair a copper ball or similar job. Be able to repair leaky bibcocks, plugcocks and ball valves. Know how to hammer up a burst "pipe" and l know the address of his local turncock. Understand the ordinary hot and cold water system of a house; how to thaw out a frozen pipe and to protect pipes from frost.
