Medal of Merit Early Postcard Circa 1909

The Medal of Merit was originally used for merit and 3rd grade of gallantry until the gilt cross was introduced. The type of ribbon is depicted in this early postcard.

This is one of the most commonly copied medals so buyers beware, the things to look for, the medal is 33mm in diameter (same size as the gallantry crosses) the replicas often have a line around the perimeter where they were cut from the mould.
