Air Mechanic Senior Scouts Badge 1958 to 1964
The Air Mechanic Badge was part of
the Collective series “The Aviator”
To earn this badge a scout must do
the following *
(1) Have a clear idea of the
working of the internal combustion engine and know the names and positions of
all the principle parts. Be able to strip and re-assemble an I.C. engine of not
more than four cylinders.
(2) Have a general knowledge of
elementary hydraulics as applied to aircraft.
(3) Show a knowledge of the metals in common use in aircraft engineering practice, and demonstrate by
means of a practical test from a
drawing, his ability to use the applicable hand tools.
(4) Have a clear idea of typical airframe construction.
(5) Show that he understands the principles of jet propulsion and the
theory of the gas turbine.
